We're doing fabric buying a little differently this week.

Preorders played a big role in Surge's early days, and we're bringing one back for this collection of deadstock denims. Rather than trying to guess which colors, weights and stripes you'll want most, you get to decide what we bring in.

Choose your denim from the dropdown and order the yardage you need. Once the preorder closes, we'll place our order based on your selections. QTY 1 = 1 yard.

We are not currently planning to bring in additional yardage for stock. If you have plans for one of these denims, please order what you need during the preorder window.

HOW THE PREORDER WORKS

The preorder closes Thursday, September 24 at 11:59 PM CT. We'll place our fabric order Friday morning.

We expect the fabric to arrive to us approximately 2 weeks after ordering. Once it arrives, we'll batch cut and process all preorder yardage. Please allow an additional 1–2 weeks for order processing depending on preorder volume.

Estimated ship time: approximately 3–4 weeks after the preorder closes.

Because these are deadstock fabrics, availability is limited to the yardage available from our supplier. In the unlikely event that a fabric becomes unavailable before our final order is placed, we'll contact affected customers.

Please do not combine preorder fabrics with currently in-stock products.

Orders containing both preorder and in-stock fabrics will be held until the preorder fabric arrives. This can create significant shipping delays and may also create inventory issues if an in-stock fabric sells out before we process your combined order.

About our stretch measurements: Stretch percentages are approximate and were measured from the unwashed sample swatches by stretching a 4" section of fabric. Washing may affect the final stretch and recovery, so these measurements are intended as a helpful guide rather than an exact specification.

Meet the Denims

LIGHT INDIGO
10.75 oz • 80% Cotton / 20% TENCEL™ Lyocell

A classic light indigo denim with 20% TENCEL™ Lyocell for a slightly softer hand than you’d expect from a traditional all-cotton denim. A great option for jeans, pants, skirts, chore jackets and other structured garments where you’d still appreciate some softness.

TOFFEE
11.5 oz • 93% Cotton / 5% Recycled Polyester / 2% Spandex
Approx. 6–12% crosswise stretch before washing

A rich, earthy brown stretch denim with a substantial weight and a little give for comfort. A great choice for jeans, pants, fitted skirts, overalls and structured jackets.

CARAMEL
9 oz • 92% Cotton / 7% Polyester / 1% Spandex

The lightest solid in the collection, in a warm caramel brown. Its lighter weight and bit of stretch make it especially versatile for pants, skirts, dresses, jumpsuits and lighter jackets.

KELLY GREEN

A saturated green denim with a substantial, traditional denim feel. Best suited to structured jeans, pants, skirts, jackets, bags and utility-inspired garments.

BURGUNDY

A rich burgundy in a substantial 12 oz, 100% cotton denim. Think structured jeans and trousers, skirts, chore jackets and statement outerwear.

DARK BROWN

A deep neutral brown stretch denim with substantial body and a little give. A very wearable alternative to traditional indigo for jeans and pants, with enough structure for skirts and jackets too.

MAROON

A deep, muted maroon stretch denim that lands right in the sweet spot for bottoms. Slightly lighter than the Toffee and Dark Brown options, but still substantial enough for jeans, pants, skirts and overalls.

A warm, muted red stretch denim with a great midweight feel. A versatile option for jeans, pants, skirts, overalls and jackets without the heft of the 12 oz denims.

INDIGO RAILROAD STRIPE

A dark indigo denim punctuated by widely spaced narrow stripes. At an extra-wide 66–67", this one would make a particularly fun pair of pants, overalls, skirt or workwear-inspired jacket.

INDIGO PINSTRIPE

A dark indigo denim with closely spaced narrow stripes that give it a slightly more tailored feel. Especially good for pants, jackets, structured skirts and workwear-inspired pieces.

NATURAL + INDIGO WIDE STRIPE

A bold alternating natural and indigo stripe with a little stretch. Definitely one of the statement options in this group, and one that would be especially fun for pants, overalls, skirts and jackets.

INDIGO DOBBY STRIPE
10.2 oz • 100% Cotton

This one is all about texture. The woven dobby design creates a dimensional stripe rather than a simple flat pattern, while the 10.2 oz weight makes it a little lighter than most of the striped options. Great for pants, skirts, jackets and other pieces where you can let that texture show.

A fine indigo-and-natural stripe with a classic workwear feel. The midweight 100% cotton denim is a versatile choice for pants, chore jackets, overalls, skirts and utility-inspired pieces.

A traditional railroad-style indigo and natural stripe in a sturdy midweight denim. An obvious match for workwear-inspired sewing, but I’d love to see this translated into a more modern pant, skirt or jacket silhouette too.

62–63" wide

A bold indigo-and-natural stripe with a substantial 11.5 oz weight. This one has enough presence for structured pants, skirts, overalls and jackets and would make a particularly fun statement piece.

Preorder reminder: Orders close Thursday at midnight CT. We currently do not plan to stock additional yardage after the preorder closes. Please order preorder fabrics separately from in-stock merchandise. 

ETA: Mid October
We expect to place our fabric order immediately after the preorder closes. Fabric is expected to arrive to us approximately two weeks later, followed by cutting and order processing. We anticipate preorder orders beginning to ship in mid October.
