Ponte Twill | Latest Fabric Release

We are excited to introduce our newest arrival, Ponte Twill, to the shop today! There's no need to sacrifice comfort for a polished, elevated look because comfort meets luxury with this beautiful fabric! This fabric defies the nature of twill (most commonly a woven fabric) and elevates the typical Ponte fabric. It is structured and stable yet drapes exceptionally well. It is a wonderful weight that makes it suitable for an array of garments. Our sewist team took to the task of sewing up some samples so that you may see how the fabric looks in a finished garment as well as spark your creativity. Here is their skillfully created pieces and what they thought of this fabric in their own words!

    Pattern: Seamwork Chip Jacket
    Color: Cathay Spice
"The ponte twill showcases the stability of a ponte with the drape of a twill and enough stretch to keep it all comfy. I was surprised by the light fluidity, as the fabric wasn't as heavy or structured as I originally anticipated.

I chose the Seamwork Chip knit Moto jacket pattern (Max 54" bust) and the Ponte Twill brings a lighter and drapy-er look and feel to the traditional silhouette.

I worked with the mustard colorway-- which is an earthy gold that can wear almost as a neutral tan. I'm absolutely thrilled with the tone. Since monitors can be deceiving and this color is so unique-- I thought it would be helpful to give a little color clarity. I used the Seamwork Chip Moto Jacket pattern.

I sized up to accommodate layering but that wasn't necessary with this fabric--and I would go true to size next time. I lined the collar with a synthetic stretch sherpa from my stash and added matching cuffs. I love the aesthetic drama.

🙂 I'm so pleased with this statement basic! Ithink I may need to sew up a 5 out of 4 Patterns🙂 Bridgette Pencil Skirt in the ponte twill next. It will be a stunning showcase for this fabric. Happy Sewing!"

Pattern: Chalk + Notch Evelyn Skirt
    Color: Olive
"If this fabric doesn't scream "FALL!," I don't know what does. The weight and drape is perfect for all of the best seasonal styles. Because it's a heavier weight fabric, it would be perfect for drapey pants or skirts with an elastic waistband or garments that are more form-fitting, like the Chalk and Notch Evelyn Skirt - just don't forget the interfacing!

I paired the olive color here with the Versailles hacci sweater knit in Sienna for the perfect fall outfit!

Bodysuit Pattern: Elysian Bodysuit, Friday Pattern Company"

Patterns: Friday Pattern Company Heather Blazer & George & Ginger Mix It Up Fitted Skirt
    Color: Walnut
"This ponte twill is so classy and a perfect base for staples in your wardrobe. It goes amazingly with warm and cool tones alike, so the options for pairing are limitless!!

I chose the Heather Blazer from Friday Pattern Company for this fabric, a pattern I'd been eyeing for a LONG time. This pattern is meant for wovens so I thought "What could go wrong if I'm already interfacing the pieces?" The answer, it turns out. Is a lot. 🤣

My projector played some tricks on me and the interfacing was not kind. However, this pattern is drafted SO incredibly well and the instructions and video helped so much, the finished product has me really proud of myself and my hard work.

The ponte twill has a gorgeous weight to it, giving me a true jacket feel. A little bigger than intended fit because of the added stretch, but that adds character to it!! This fabric can work for pants or dresses, jackets, you name it! I would recommend sticking to your pattern's suggested fabrics as a rule typically, even though i managed to finish this successfully. The main fabric stretching while lining was not, was a contentious battle throughout.

I love my single button, lovely lapel and collar (plus pocketssss) and matching skirt (George and Ginger Mix it Up Fitted skirt). The outfit all set up together makes me feel like a true grown up. 😁

You're going to need this in all the colorways!!"

Pattern: Hey June Bryce Cargo Pants
    Color: Rum Raisin
"This is the fabric we've all been waiting for, but didn't know it existed! You're going to need this in every color way! Not only do you get the thick softness of this ponte fabric, but the added twill design just made this fabric to more possibilities! This fabric is easy to cut and sew on any sewing machine! This has become my favorite fabric to work with!"

    Alicia | @craftivitie
    Pattern: Greenstyle Creations Chelsea Pants
    Color: Black
"If you like luxury you will love this Ponte Twill fabric! It’s the first thing that I noticed when I touched it! Nice heavy weight for colder months. For a bottom weight fabric, it has decent drape. I made the Chelsea pants by GreenStyle and I’m amazed at how well it handled the flare. When I first tested it on my serger I wanted to scream! It sews like a dream! No fuss, no difficult settings and no crazy amount of lint in your machine…which I love! Coverstitching was also a breeze as this fabric glides through without a problem. You will want this Ponte twill for one of your favorite patterns so that you can get to wear it often. Oh yeah, did I mention that it comes in several awesome fall colors?!"

As you can see, there are so many wonderful patterns available that would be beautiful sewn up in our Ponte Twill.
Here are just a few more suggestions!
