    Best Fabric for Sewing Leggings

One of our most common questions at Surge is: what fabric is best for sewing leggings? Like most projects, your personal preference will come in to play when answering this question. Compression is a huge factor to consider when making leggings, and this blog post will rank fabrics from least compressive, to most.

    K-Deer Repreve Matte Nylon

This lighter weight fabric is the least compressive of what Surge carries. Summer workouts and running sessions are great times to pull out this fabric.

    K-Deer Nylon Spandex Tricot

This fabric is an overstock buy that was designed for hot yoga. It is a bit more compressive than the K-Deer Matte Nylon. It can also be used for swim.

265 GSM ABP (Athletic Brushed Poly)

This fabric is very soft due to its brushed properties. A perfect medium weight compression, this fabric is a good starting point for beginners to sew their own activewear. After working with 265 GSM ABP, you will know whether you want more compression or less.

    Excel ATY Nylon

This is a generic fiber name for Supplex. It has a cotton feel and is very compressive, supportive, and firm.

    REnergy Nylon Spandex

This line is a new one to Surge, but we couldn't leave it out due to its amazing properties! What makes this one special is how lightweight it is while also having strong compression. It is squat-proof and will even slow the creation of lactic acid in the body, enhancing your workouts. It is composed of nylon and spandex, no polyester.

    QUAD Performance Jersey

This is our most compressive fabric. If you do weightlifting, this fabric can be wonderful at keeping everything in place.
