Our woven wool fabrics are a timeless and classic choice for coats! They are warm, thanks to that wool content! Not only that though, they are trendy with the various herringbone and houndstooth weaves we have available. Our wool coatings are the ideal fabric for creating long-lasting jackets/coats, shackets, vests and even blankets of heirloom quality.

Fabric Weight: ~17oz/linear yard
Care Instructions: Due to the wool content, this fabric and any garment made with it will require some special care. We recommend machine washing on the delicate/handwash setting with cold water and wool wash. They lay flat or hang to dry. Exposure to hot water or the dryer will shrink/felt the wool fibers.

This wool is absolutely stunning. I cannot stress how gorgeous it is in person. I'm tempted to come back and buy even more because of how lovely the drape and texture is. I sewed up a car coat with a silk lining, and the wool did not dissapoint. While it's not heavy enough for a deep freezing winter coat on it's own, it's absolutely perfect for moderately cold temps. It's definitely much heavier and weightier than suiting and would work beautifully for a coat with a full skirt or a design that benefits from a less stiff drape. It handled a prewash in the machine on a delicate wool cycle beautifully and even tolerated going in the dryer on the delicate cycle with no felting or change in appearance, with minimal shrinkage.
I really do think I need to buy more for a full length coat this time around. It's such a classic and timeless fabric.
